Fangirl: The Musical

Have you ever read a book and seen just how amazing it could be as a film or a play? I tend to do that, but as musicals or soundtracks. I love listening to author-curated playlists while I read their stories and it inspired me to create fan playlists for the books I love reading.

Fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell, is my absolute favorite novel of all time. Cath is entering her freshman year at Omaha and she is entirely out of her element. Sure, she has her twin sister there, and has made friends with her weird roommate and her even weirder boyfriend/best friend - but no one could ever understand her like her fanfiction fans could. As Cath navigates the college front, she has to learn how to step out of the pages of a fanfic and into her own life.

This story of growing up resonates with the musical theatre nerd in me. Hence, I got a little obsessed and tried to write a parody musical. If you'd like to listen to it, the link to the Spotify playlist will be at the bottom of this post. And thus, cue the lights. Cue the music. And action...
